Angle grinders

An angle grinder, also known as a grinder or cut-off tool, is an indispensable multifunctional helper for every workshop and garage. An angle grinder can be corded or cordless, and both types have their pros and cons.

A cordless angle grinder is highly mobile because it does not need any power source other than its own battery. You do not need to look for a socket or be bothered by cables. Thanks to the absence of a cord, the grinder is also easier to handle. A mini angle grinder is suitable for confined spaces where there is less room to move.

How to choose a cordless angle grinder?

When choosing a cordless angle grinder, you should consider its power, size, and also the type of discs. 

Power: An important parameter when choosing a cordless angle grinder is the motor input power. For home DIY users, an angle grinder with 500 W will be sufficient, but if you plan more demanding work, it is better to choose a model with 750 W. 

Size: The size of an angle grinder is determined by the diameter of the disc it can accommodate. The basic grinder sizes are 115 mm, 125 mm, 150 mm, 180 mm, and 230 mm. Smaller angle grinders with disc diameters of 115 and 125 mm are ideal for hobby DIY users and occasional household work. They are suitable for cutting sheet metal and tiles. Larger grinders are used by professional tradespeople or passionate DIYers. For safety reasons, they are usually designed for two-handed operation.

Disc: You can use diamond discs for cutting construction materials (concrete, bricks, natural stone, etc.), as well as wire discs for rough grinding and cleaning surfaces (for example preparing material before welding). Flap discs are also popular for fine and surface grinding with fast material removal. And of course, the classic choice is grinding discs for grinding welds and chamfering edges, while we must not forget cutting discs for cutting steel, stainless steel, aluminium, and also plastics.
