An angle grinder, also known as a cut-off grinder or disc grinder, is an indispensable multifunctional helper for every workshop and garage. An angle grinder can be electric or cordless, and both types have their pros and cons. An electric angle grinder is more powerful and lighter in weight. Cordless grinders, however, are more mobile and are suitable where there is no access to electricity.

How to choose an electric angle grinder?

Electric angle grinders differ in terms of disc size, motor power, and rotation speed. 

Disc size: The most commonly used models have discs with a diameter of 115 mm, 125 mm, or 230 mm. Smaller grinders are lighter and easier to handle, making them suitable for detail work, while larger 230 mm models are designed for more demanding cutting and grinding tasks.

Power and rotation speed: When choosing an angle grinder, it is important to consider the motor power and rotation speed. More powerful models (over 1000 W) are suitable for heavier work, while models with lower power are sufficient for standard household tasks. 

Additional features: Some models come with extra practical features. For example, variable speed control or soft start increase comfort and safety during work. Some electric angle grinders also include automatic shut-off in case of overload or kickback protection, which further improves safety during use.
