Whether you are furnishing a new apartment or planning a bathroom renovation or remodel, a shower enclosure or a shower as part of a bathtub is among the essential fittings. A hand shower is essential

A hand shower head is a fundamental bathroom fixture, whether you have a shower enclosure or a bathtub. It allows for truly thorough cleansing. Especially if there are children in the household, choose one that is lightweight and ideally features protective elements in case it is dropped (reducing the risk of damage to the shower enclosure, bathtub, or the shower itself). Shower hose

An integral part of a hand shower is the shower hose. You can choose between metal and plastic hoses. A metal shower hose may also feature a protective plastic coating. A plastic shower hose is lighter, minimizes the risk of injury, is easier to clean, and is available in a much wider range of colors (stainless steel look, black, white, etc.). For greater comfort, choose a hose with an anti-twist system. Hose length is also important: typical lengths are 125–150 cm for bathtubs and 150–200 cm for shower enclosures. 

Overhead shower

An overhead shower should be sufficiently large to envelop your body in streams of water. You can choose between wall-mounted or ceiling-mounted options. Overhead showers come in rectangular, square, oval, and round shapes. As this is a relatively prominent bathroom feature, choose one that is visually pleasing and harmonizes with the rest of your bathroom fittings.

The shower and its spray modes

What often determines the right shower choice are its spray modes. A hand shower typically offers:

• gentle, relaxing – a sensitive massage of nerve endings under the skin with a soothing effect

• massage, intensive – targeted care for specific areas (e.g., a stiff neck) or for rinsing shampoo from thick hair

• combined – suitable for everyday cleansing

• eco – air is usually added to the water stream

In addition to spray modes, the switching method also matters. The standard is rotating the lower part of the shower head. Some showers are also equipped with a button located on the handle or in the center of the head. More premium versions offer control via a thermostatic shower tap.

Design that impresses

Design is a matter of personal preference, but it’s always important that the shower is comfortable to use. Available options include angular, rounded, and circular designs, inspired by industrial minimalism or organic natural shapes. Showers come in various sizes, as well as colors and surface finishes (black, gold, copper, stainless steel, etc.). The arrangement of the nozzles—and even the color of the underside of the shower head—also plays an aesthetic role.
